Washington Park still boasts some original homes and this little 1920s gem is one of them. On the outside, it looks like a nice little bungalow. And it is. But when you step inside, the original details have been so beautifully cared for that it takes you back in time.

In typical bungalow fashion, you enter in the living room, which in turn opens into the dining room, with the kitchen beyond that. These front rooms feature especially beautifully stained and detailed examples of the woodwork that bungalow dwellers have come to love. The fireplace in the living room features a majestic hearth with built-in bookshelves. A built-in hutch that holds the family's treasures is also essentially a wall that separates the formal dining area from the more casual kitchen. The kitchen is beautiful in its own right, hearkening back to a simpler time with cabinets that are generous in space but unfussy on the outside. This kitchen has everything you could want, but its history really comes through.

At just over 1500 square feet on the main floor, this home has the best of both worlds - the lovely coziness that bungalows do so well, but also enough space to feel generous rather than cramped. In addition, it has a very open and fully finished basement that the family really uses. Their main-floor living room is kept tidy for company. The downstairs space is more of a family room where family members hang out together. Some modern touches also add to the house's charm. Bungalows of this era are not generally known for their storage, but a previous owner added a walk-in closet in the master bedroom and a cedar walk-in closet in the basement.

Like other bungalows of the time, this home has a few original touches that make living in them so special. Two sets of stairs create an easy flow and enhance the generosity of the space. There is also a light-filled sun room very close to the master bedroom that currently makes a perfect nursery for a baby.
